Accessibility Statement — Jeannie Shaw
Jeannie Shaw · jeannieshaw.com

Accessibility Statement.

Effective Date: March 23, 2026 · Last Updated: March 23, 2026 · Applies to: jeannieshaw.com

Our commitment: Jeannie Shaw is committed to ensuring that jeannieshaw.com is accessible to everyone — including people with visual, auditory, cognitive, and motor disabilities. We believe art should be accessible to all, and that starts with how we present it online.

If you experience any difficulty accessing any part of this website, please contact us immediately and we will work to provide the information or assistance you need.

01

Our Commitment

Actively improving · In progress

Jeannie Shaw / Creative Jeannieus LLC is committed to making jeannieshaw.com accessible and usable for all visitors, regardless of ability or the technology they use to browse the web. We recognize that accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one-time checklist.

We strive to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA — the recognized standard for digital accessibility — and to continually improve the experience for all users. We also believe in the spirit of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title III, which requires that businesses open to the public provide equal access to their services online.

02

Standards We Follow

We use the following standards as our guide:

  • WCAG 2.1 Level AA — Web Content Accessibility Guidelines published by the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative. These guidelines cover four core principles: content must be Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust (POUR).
  • ADA Title III — We work to ensure our website provides equal access to goods and services in the spirit of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Perceivable

Information and content can be presented in ways all users can perceive — including those using screen readers or who cannot see images.

Operable

All functionality can be operated via keyboard, not just a mouse. Navigation is clear and consistent throughout the site.

Understandable

Content is written in plain language. Error messages are clear. The site behaves in predictable, consistent ways.

Robust

Content is built to work reliably with current and future assistive technologies, including screen readers.

03

What We've Done

We have taken the following steps to improve accessibility across jeannieshaw.com:

  • Added descriptive alt text to images throughout the site so screen readers can describe visual content to users
  • Used semantic HTML to structure pages clearly (headings, lists, landmark regions)
  • Ensured color contrast meets the minimum 4.5:1 ratio for text legibility
  • Made forms on the site keyboard navigable and labelled correctly
  • Ensured links have descriptive text rather than generic "click here" labels
  • Used responsive design so the site works on all screen sizes and devices
  • Ensured text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality
  • Avoided content that flashes more than 3 times per second, which can trigger seizures
04

Known Limitations

While we strive for full accessibility, we acknowledge there are areas still being improved:

  • Older images and artwork: Some historical images in our gallery may have limited or missing alt text. We are working through these systematically to add meaningful descriptions.
  • Third-party embedded content: Some content embedded from third-party platforms (such as social media feeds or shop widgets) may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA. We are limited in our ability to control the accessibility of third-party tools.
  • PDF documents: Any downloadable PDFs on the site may not be fully optimized for screen readers. Please contact us if you need the content of any document in an alternative format.
  • Video content: Videos shared from social media platforms may not always include captions. We are working to add captions to our original video content.

If you encounter a specific accessibility barrier not listed here, please let us know. Your feedback directly informs our improvements.

05

Assistive Technology Support

This website is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:

  • Screen readers — including NVDA (Windows), JAWS (Windows), VoiceOver (Mac/iOS), and TalkBack (Android)
  • Keyboard-only navigation — all interactive elements are reachable and usable without a mouse
  • Browser zoom — content remains readable and functional when zoomed up to 200%
  • High contrast mode — the site is designed to remain legible in high contrast display settings
  • Voice control software — including Dragon NaturallySpeaking

For best results, we recommend using an up-to-date browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge) alongside your preferred assistive technology.

06

Third-Party Content

This website links to and embeds content from third-party platforms including Shopify, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube. While we choose platforms that take accessibility seriously, we cannot guarantee the full accessibility of all third-party content.

If you have difficulty accessing a product, purchase, or content due to a third-party accessibility limitation, please contact us directly and we will do our best to assist you or provide an alternative.

07

Ongoing Improvements

Accessibility is not a destination — it's a continuous process. We are committed to:

  • Reviewing and improving accessibility as the site evolves and new content is added
  • Addressing reported accessibility issues promptly
  • Staying informed about updates to WCAG guidelines and best practices
  • Considering accessibility from the start when designing new pages or features

This statement was last reviewed and updated on March 23, 2026. We aim to review it at minimum once per year or whenever significant changes are made to the site.
