A Little About Me
The Tree Hugger

I’ve been artistically inclined to as far back as I can recall. My formal visual art studies were at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. I also studied Business at St John’s College in Belize.
Painting is very intuitive for me. It has almost always been inspired by my own photos, for the most part. I have found that I could take up to a year’s hiatus from painting and somehow when I come back to my canvas, paint and brush, I’ve learned something new. Somewhere in the ethers… information downloads and when I come back to it, I have a greater understanding of how I want to create.

I was born in Belize with Scottish, West African and Mestizo ancestry. My dad was Scottish and my mom was Kriol (Belizean). Growing up in the Caribbean has influenced so much of my creativity and I’m so thankful for the culture and the vibe.Â
The human experience is absolutely fascinating… from aesthetics to the very soul of every being. Faces, eyes, lips – all of it draws me in. Having grown up in Belize, I have a tenacious affinity for old wooden homes, faces from all walks of life, the Caribbean lifestyle and nature. I find beauty in the simplest things.
Mom used to say that she would overlook my eccentricities because of the artist in me. I spoke to trees and birds before I knew that anyone else did and these days I talk to my beautiful house plant, Sabrina haha. But like life, there is always polarity.Â
There’s the “tree hugger” and the “homie don’t play that”. And all of it makes me, me and I pray that all of it makes its way into my art.Â
I’ve run a hotel, designed game rooms for an online gaming company, worked for a mobile spa, cleaned houses and the list goes on and on. Everything leads me back to being the artsy type.
